Bedraggled and Miserable

Not sure if you heard or not, but DC received rain of biblical proportions starting the weekend of June 25th. Rain, thunderstorms, lightening, and then more drenching downpours. For days and days and days. Something like 10 inches fell in a 24 hour period near our house. Everything in DC flooded...including several federal agencies, some of the Smithsonian museums, and the zoo. And though our basement has always been dry (according to my mommies, I haven't been around to confirm) that run of good luck ended on Sunday evening around 2:30am with pounding on our door from Diana yelling, "basement emergency, basement emergency!" Water had filled the window wells and was pouring in through the windows. Thus began a multiday nightmarish saga for my mommies involving water, mud, headlamps, sandbags, wet/dry vacs, and lots and lots of being really wet and dirty. Blissfully, I was playing with my bubby and sleeping through all of this. :-)

Trying to catch up...

Okay...I've been very busy (surprising, right?), and I haven't had as much time to blog as I would like. So, I'm going to try and do a little 'catch up' here and in the next couple of posts. First I need to talk about my important visitors.

My Mommy Mindy's roommate from college, Kix, and her family came to visit. Kix and Cathy just had twin girls, Ava and Vivien, who are now four months old. I've been hearing about them since before they were born, so it was fun to meet them. They're so little...especially Ava. My mommies kept commenting on how I was never that little! I think they kind of enjoyed holding small babies...and I enjoyed showing Kix and Cathy what they have to look forward to!

Also, my Bubby came to visit me. Again. I love that my Bubby comes so often--she pays LOTS of attention to me. Do you think she maybe likes me a little bit?

I also got to play with a furry friend. I kept wanting the car to go--when my mommies sit behind one of those spinning wheels the ride is a lot more fun. And when I try to grab their keys they always take them away. But just wait...one day I'll get my own set of keys.

Reunion

My mommies were in a pregnancy support group at LSP of Whitman Walker, and they met all of my friends' mommies there. Every few months, we all get together to see how much we've all grown.

This is my friend Connor.

And here's Ellie.

I had lots of fun playing with all of Parker's toys (we went to his house).

And here's Elijah, the oldest and biggest of all (but not for long!)

Ellie's twin sister, Caroline, had a great time, too.

Parker has the coolest toys!

Go Brasil!

Since I'm half Brazilian, and OF COURSE cheering Brasil on in the World Cup, my Tia TJ and Mimi Marina brought me back this Brasil outfit from their trip to Brasil. Mimi Marina is teaching me how to scream wildly in Portuguese when Brasil scores. Last week I went to Sparky's Cafe to watch Brasil beat Croatia.

Of course, Ronaldinho is my favorite player.

I'm already starting to practice so I can play just like him! Meanwhile, I'll just keep wearing my Brasil soccer gear to support my team!

Levi Does Gay Pride

So, last weekend was gay pride. What fun! Especially since everyone paid a lot of attention to me. Love that. On Saturday evening we went to the parade. We started at the beginning, where Mimi Marina was at the front on her new bike (which used to be my Mama's bike). It was all decked out in gay and brazilian colors--my favorites. I got to sit on the bike...and wear her helmet. I wanted to ride with her in the parade but, as usual, no one lets me have any REAL fun.

After the parade started, we watched for a while and then walked back along the parade route and got to see almost all of the marchers and the floats. We saw so many people...Frances, my cousin Dia, Nicole, Ruti, and Naveh, and so many more. And everyone gave me fun stuff!! I loved the beads, and the beach ball from Whole Foods is great fun to chase around the house. And I was hungry, so a drag queen from one of the floats gave me not one, not two, but THREE bananas from the float.

On Sunday we went to the festival. I got to ride in the backpack carrier--which meant that I could see almost everything! Not just peoples' legs, like when I'm in the stroller. And the beach ball was attached so I always had something to play with.

And guess what else? I learned how to clap! The best part about clapping is that when I clap, my mommies clap back. How cool is that? I can make them do it whenever I want to. Hee hee hee...

Social butterfly

While I was mostly busy with my Tio Julio over the last month, that didn't mean that I gave up on the rest of my social calendar! I've been a boy around town trying to keep up with all my friends!

Fanta and I went out for yummy Thai food.

Meghan and I went to coffee together...okay, well, Meghan had coffee--I had Cheerios.

Monica came all the way from Toronto to visit me. I think maybe she had some other things to do in DC also, but I know that the most important thing was to see me!

I never knew that making sushi could be so much fun. With Christa and B it was a blast...especially since I got to eat the avocado and asparagus that was going in the rolls. (Sadly, I still don't get to eat the good stuff...maybe once I can hold my own chopsticks I'll get to have some of the spicy tuna roll.)

Meryl and I got to hang out with my Mommy and Tio Julio--Meryl was nice enough to help out with my bottle.

And I had a great time when Eddie and Sarita came over. They were lots of fun to play with. (And yes, that is my Brazil outfit that I'm wearing!)

Fun with my Tio

Tio Julio and I have had lots of fun. I really like to wake him up really early in the morning so we can have lots of time to play.

He better bring lots of milk because I'm HUNGRY all the time!

Don't I look cool in his sunglasses?

The best was when Tio Julio was teaching me how to crawl. Look down below for a video of my crawling lesson...
